loading driver for pnp0501 -regarding

Hi all,

When i load driver for ACPI\PNP0501 with my inf Device id is ACPI\Test1 and
driver has been loading succesfully with warning will be showned as your
loading for a driver which is not for this particular hardware.

It loaded the driver and also got the resource also listed in that tab of a
device manager properties.

When i check in the driver details tab , hardware id as shown as
“ACPI\PNP0501” and driver also loaded what i load for it.

Test the loopback with hyperterminal for that com port and works only.

Whether it loads the driver as like toaster driver or what?

Whether it is correct driver for it…because loopback works for it… also
it used the resource as 3f8

When i add it to my installer to load the driver it not load automatically.

I used wix installer to create a driver package , added the dll for it but
driver not loaded on it. if i load the driver manually it loads it.

I’m not sure what that sentence means. If your hardware is ACPI\Test1, then why would you have your INF file match ACPI\PNP0501?

Again, I don’t know what you’re asking. You are loading your driver on your device, right?

If your device is advertised as ACPI\Test1, and you pre-install a driver package that matches ACPI\Test1, then it will automatically be found. But if your device is ACPI\PNP0501, then you would have to override the system’s automatic assignment of the standard serial driver, and you will not be allowed to get WHQL certification for that driver package.
