File system driver

Hi All,

I’m new to the driver development domain. I’m supposed to write a File system driver for packet writing technology (supported on UDF) where the user can use media (CD - R, CD - RW, DVD - R and so on ) just like a floppy diskette. Can you please guide me as how to start with. Right now i’m going through windows 2000 IFS. Just started looking at fastfat sample provided in the same. I’ve very less time. I need to develop the driver on Windows 95/98/2000/NT and Xp

Thanks in advance
ML

Hi,
The UDF related documents are available in the net, you can just search for
UDF or ISO 9660. For the file system, the best book I have come across is
Windows File System by Rajiv Nagar. I am sure this will help. As you are
doing, IFS kit is also a good material to study… Also, you can download
File system filter driver from OSR or www.sysinternals.com. This helped me
as a beginner to study the file system request.

Hope this helps…
regards,
Prasanna.

I hope you’ve realised you are writing *two* drivers, the 95/98 model is totally incompatible with the NT model. I’m also surprised you can’t find UDF writers out there already.

Andy.

See http://www.acc.umu.se/~bosse or http://sys.xiloo.com. There are some examples of file system driver with full source code.
