Graphics card driver.

Hello, I am hoping this is the right place to ask. If I have written my own very basic operating system and I wished to write a graphics card driver for it. Which books / pdf's would people here suggest I should read? I know this isn't anything to do with Windows but I am hoping someone can suggest some reading material I can spend quite a bit of time getting to know. Thanks, p.s. it is just for concept before somebody asks.
