Debug over Ethernet makes adapter to disappear

Hi there,

I have configured my VM to use its network adapter as a way to get the WinDbg connected to it. Because my VM run at a data center, the only way I can reach it is using RDP. Now that I got the WinDbg connected to my target system, I cannot reach it using RDP anymore.

I didn’t find this information anywhere, but can I assume that when kernel debug module uses the network adapter as a debug resource, Windows will miss that particular adapter?

Should I have two network adapters on my target system so that I can debug its kernel while it reaches the network?

Thanks in advance,

Yes. You can then specify the adapter to use for debugging on the target
command line with busparams

I use a VM for the target, and a VM for the debugger. I can configure as
many virtual network adapters as I need on either end. Using a VM for the
debugger is the only way to roll.
