Anyone using DIFx to install mini-filter?

According to the docs I am supposed to set the
DriverPackageType=FileSystemFilter for a file-system filter driver. Should
I do this for a mini-filter?

The docs also say that if this type is set:
“For file system drivers and file system file drivers, MsiInstallDrivers
sets an internal flag that subsequently causes MsiCleanupOnSuccess to prompt
the user to restart the computer. (It is always necessary to restart a
computer to complete the installation of these types of drivers.)”

For a mini-filter no reboot should be necessary.

I attempted to use it for a legacy FSFD, but after finding out that you can
only use it on XP and 2K if you drivers are signed by WHQL, I don’t think it
will work out, since WHQL only signs AV filter drivers… Anyone correct me
if I’m wrong. You can however use it for W2K3 Server with an authenticode
signature.

Sorry, I don’t know much about the existing installer packages but
Microsoft is working on a new version of our installer that will run on
W2K and later and it will understand these new concepts like minifilters
that don’t need reboots.
