One quick correction to your terminology, which certainly can be confusing. You do not have a “cross signed certificate”. What you have is a code-signing certificate. You do have to apply a cross-certificate in order to get Windows to load your driver, but that’s part of the signing process, not part of your certificate.

For the new build of my driver I sign it by cross signed certificate I have. But does it compulsory need Extended Validation Code signing certificated even if my cross signed certificate is valid till August 2016?

The current signing procedure, using your current certificate, will continue to work until your certificate expires. At that point, you will need to have an EV certificate to create a WHQL account to use the new attestation procedure for Windows 10.
