Anyone knows how it’s possible to log driver loading in Windows 8?
I have a USB device which worked fine on every windows till now - has two endpoints, one HID battery, another HID generic. On a Win8/64 bit PC the battery loads, the HID generic does not. No device with error in device manager, the USB device is loaded too, just the HID generic endpoint is not.
I want to find out what happens but the old way with setupapi.dev.log seems to not work - tried on two Win8’s:
-
in one (Win8/32bit) the file does not exist. Doesn’t matter if I change the LogLevel registry entry to 0x4000FFFF or 0x00007070 or whatever else (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/ff550808(v=vs.85).aspx)
-
on the second pc (Win8/64 bit) the file does exists but my HID device is not logged as loaded (not even the one which it is) so it seems the notice from this entry is true: http://www.osronline.com/showthread.cfm?link=213098
Also tried to find the device loading in event viewer at Applications and services logs/Microsoft/Windows/Kernel-PnP/Device configuration where should have a trace. Seems that is not working either - the first 1M of the events are there and it does not logs more than that - no matter if I clean the log, set the size limit to 2M etc.
