Backup solution

Hi All, I want take a Backup of entire volume.Currently i have written a application which will walk through all the blocks in the volume and write it to destination.Can anyone please give me a reference sample code to read only the allocated blocks and write it to destination. How it can be done.Please help me. with thanks
