how to uninstall printer driver from Vista

Hi,

I am testing my printer driver on Windows Vista system.
My user account is in the administrator group. I could not use Device manager to do anything interms of printer. When I used pnputil to uninstall my printer driver from Vista, the access was denied.

What should I do to comletely uninstall the driver so that I can do a brand new installation to test my up-to-date driver.

Thanks!

Reinstall the OS via a Ghost image. The only way to do a ‘brand new
installation’ is to do a ‘brand new installation’ which means it has NEVER
been installed on that machine since the OS was installed.

Go to the printers folder (control panel/printers), and select the
printer to delete. Press the delete button, and click yes.
While still in the printers folder, pick File/Server properties.
Select the drivers tab. Select the driver to delete. Click the remove
button.
Click “Remove driver and package”. Click OK. Click Yes. Click Delete.
If there were no problems, click OK. Click Close.

Easy, huh? Only about 5 times as many steps as in XP. And that is
WITHOUT all the “Are You Sure?” prompts of UAC.

Thank you for the quick reply. I just tried it. When I selected the driver in the server property,
remove button is grayed out. Is this a privilege problem?

You may have to do File/Run as admin…/Server properties. If that
doesn’t solve the problem, get Ghost.

G*d, I love vista.
