The platform-specific information for the make files is contained in makefile.plt. You can include makefile.plt in your own make files to select the build target and set platform-specific variables. For an example of this, see makefile.def.
The latest version of makefile.plt is stored on %ddkroot%\bin.
This file contains the very useful macros TARGET_DIRECTORY,and FREEBUILD.
